A$AP Rocky is sharing his thoughts on one of hip-hop’s most talked-about rivalries, the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, and his comment is not one that was expected.

In a new interview with ELLE published on September 23, the 36-year-old rapper said he believed the battle between the two megastars was good for the culture.

“It was healthy for hip-hop,” Rocky explained, noting how the lyrical back-and-forth captured fans’ attention for months.

Rocky himself briefly found his name pulled into the drama.

On Future and Metro Boomin’s track Show of Hands, he threw a jab at Drake by rapping about sleeping with the Canadian star’s former partner, Sophie Brussaux, who is also the mother of Drake’s son.

“N----s swear they b-tch the baddest, I just bagged the worst one… I smashed before you birthed son, Flacko hit it first, son,” Rocky rapped on the song.

Drake later fired back on his diss track Family Matters, where he referenced both Rocky and his partner Rihanna.

“Rakim talkin’ s--- again / Gassed ‘cause you hit my BM first, n----, do the math, who I was hittin’ then?” Drake rapped, adding a dig that Rocky’s career is now mostly talked about for fashion rather than music.

Still, Rocky was quick to clarify that he never wanted to be part of the central beef.

“The battle was between Kendrick and Drake, not Drake and everybody else who might have said something at that time, and that’s mainly why I fell back,” he told ELLE

He added that he wasn’t impressed with how the feud shifted into legal battles.

“I just hate the way it’s turning out with [Drake] suing and all that. What part of the game is that? What type of s--- is that? That’s none of my business, I guess.”

Lamar and Drake’s feud reached its peak with Lamar’s explosive track Not Like Us, released in May 2024, which many saw as the decisive blow.

The song went on to earn Lamar five Grammy Awards and a performance at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Meanwhile, Rocky has been focusing on his own music and family life.

He recently confirmed his long-awaited fourth album Don’t Be Dumb is still on the way, though delayed due to family priorities.

Rocky and Rihanna are parents to sons RZA and Riot and are currently expecting their third child.
