A bizarre moment recently unfolded in New York as French President Emmanuel Macron’s motorcade was stopped by the New York Police Department (NYPD) because a route was set up for the movement of the United States President Donald Trump.

A video going viral on social media features Macron getting out of his car inquiring from NYPD officials why his motorcade was stopped.

When a police official explained to him, the French President immediately called his Trump and jokingly asked him to “clear the road”.

Macron said, “If you don't see the motorcade, let me pass.” But the police didn’t allow him so called Trump and said, “Hey, how are you? Guess what, I am waiting in the street because everything is frozen for you, ha!”

The seemingly jovial call came after France officially recognised the state of Palestine at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Macron’s impromptu visit to Manhattan and the humorous call to President Trump drew netizens attention as one wrote on X, “Politics aside, even world leaders find themselves navigating unexpected roadblocks and humor helps lighten the moment.”

Another criticised the U.S. president, stating, “All that power flex and bravado is against the partners and allies only. When Putin visits, agent Krasnov quickly orders his soldiers to roll out the red carpet for his master, cause he knows who really owns him.”
