Driver under investigation for possible drug influence as emergency services respond to central district incident
A BMW struck a group of pedestrians in Berlin’s central Wedding district on Thursday, September 04, 2025, injuring multiple people including several children.
The accident occurred around 1:10 p.m. on Seestrasse, where the vehicle reportedly hit kids aged 7-8 years old while making a turn.
Three children were transported to nearby Virchow Hospital for treatment, alongside one seriously injured adult.
Photographs from the scene show police questioning a man leaning against the damaged vehicle, whose front left headlight sustained significant impact damage.
Emergency services remained on scene providing medical assistance and comforting the children while securing the area.
“Authorities are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of drugs and have ordered blood testing as part of their ongoing investigation,” the Bild newspaper reporter.
The incident occurred in the densely populated Mitte borough, raising fresh concerns about pedestrian safety in urban areas.
Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, though no formal charges have yet been filed.
