California's $400,000 plan unveiled to scare birds away
The $400,000 plan will launch this month, September 2025
A Canadian bird has forced the United States (U.S.) authorities to hire dogs and drones to scare them away.
The Canadian geese have settled in Foster City, California and their poop has become a major cause of concern for the public.
The birds’ droppings have created a health risk as they are polluting local lagoons, San Francisco Bay Area and nearby parks.
The city authorities revealed that the bird poop drives up bacteria levels and the geese also frighten children in parks, adding that the city is ready to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a plan to drive the birds away.
Parks and Recreation Director Derek Schweigart said, “We are looking for a middle way to let geese co-exist with humans,” declaring that it would be a huge success.
In an interview with Washington Post, Derek added, “We have just gotten to the point where the population has gotten so large that it is overwhelming.”
The $400,000 plan will launch this month, September 2025, and it’ll include drones disguised as Falcons and remote controlled water devices making the geese feel unwelcome.
It has been reported that thousands of hours are spent annually to clear geese poop and power wash the streets and parks, left behind by an estimated 400 resident geese.
