Manchester City enter race to sign Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens
Senne Lammens is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Belgian Pro League side Antwerp
Manchester City has joined rivals Manchester United in the pursuit of signing Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Unveiled in the reports from transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri, the Belgian player has been associated with a move away from the Jupiter Pro League club this summer.
The Royal Antwerp F.C. is reportedly prepared to sign off on Lammens. He is replaced by Japanese goalkeeper, Tashi Brandon Nozawa, who used to play for F.C. Tokyo previously.
Despite the transfer news being the talk of the football community, Lammens started this season as Royal Antwerp F.C.’s first-choice keeper and showcased impressive performances.
After confirmation of his departure from the club, Manchester United reportedly made the first move to sign Lammens.
Football expert Fabrizio Romano stated that both club and player agreed on the personal terms, with the player expectedly to sign the deal at £17 million.
But, later, Manchester City showed their interest, which created a significant twist. It is reported that the club’s interest is partly driven by stalled negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Unlike the Italian soccer goalkeeper, Lammens represents a more affordable alternative. However, it remains unclear whether Manchester City’s approach is a genuine shift of interest in the target or just a tactical move to pressure PSG.
