Hurricane Erin from space: NASA, ISS release footage
Hurricane Erin footage is released from space by NASA and ISS
The International Space Station captured the video and images of Hurricane Erin as it passed through the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean. The storm is so big that people in the space station could see it clearly from 250 miles away.
NASA and other space agencies released footage of the large and powerful tropical cyclone from high above the Earth.
Enormous Erin started from the coast of Africa and moved westward. Its path took it through the Caribbean and is now heading north-east in the Atlantic.
The tropical storm rapidly intensified, growing into a Category 5 hurricane with winds soaring up to 160 mph.
Although it did not directly hit any major cities, its immense size and powerful winds caused significant damage along the coast. The dangerous waves are washing away beaches and threatening to knock down houses in places like North Carolina on the U.S. East Coast.
Josh Stein, the Governor of North Carolina, urged residents on August 21, 2025, to stay vigilant.
“Dangerous conditions including rip currents and coastal flooding from storm surge are expected through the weekend, even as Hurricane Erin moves away from the coast,” Josh said.
In the Caribbean, the tropical storm caused heavy flooding in the Cape Verde Islands, leading to casualties. The storm is also expected to bring dangerous conditions to Bermuda.
Hurricane Erin was a powerful tropical cyclone that impacted the Atlantic basin. It was the fifth named storm and first major hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Erin’s strength fluctuated, strengthening and weakening as it moved north.
