King Charles breaks cover after receiving Prince Andrew warning
King Charles III made a solo appearance during his family retreat in Scotland amid renewed York scandals
King Charles was seen solo for the first time since a royal author issued a stark warning about keeping his brother Prince Andrew and his family at arm’s length.
On August 10, the 76-year-old monarch was spotted driving himself to Sunday service at Crathie Kirk, the small church near Balmoral Castle where the royals worship during their summer stay in Scotland.
Steering his silver estate car down a leafy lane with the windows down, Charles appeared relaxed as he covered the short distance from the castle to the chapel, per photographs obtained by the Daily Mail.
It follows his trip north to RAF Lossiemouth last Wednesday, August 6, where he re-presented the squadron standard to Number 42 Squadron.
The solo outing came just days after author Andrew Lownie, promoting his forthcoming book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, urged the King to “keep the whole York family at a distance” and warned of “more scandals to emerge.”
Lownie’s comments — made in the August 7 edition of Palace Confidential — referenced both Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, as well as their daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
The King is expected to be joined at Balmoral by the Prince and Princess of Wales as the family continues their traditional summer break in the Highlands.
