New high speed Acela trains to start running in USA on August 28
Acela trains can travel at a top speed of 160 miles per hour
Amtrak has finally announced the launch date of its new high speed Acela trains.
These modern trains will begin service on August 28, running between Washington, New York, and Boston.
Amtrak’s president, Roger Harris, said the new Acela will change the future of train travel in the United States.
The company plans to add five new trainsets first, with a total of 28 by 2027.
These new trains are faster and more comfortable, they can travel at a top speed of 160 miles per hour, which is 10 miles faster than the current Acela trains.
Passengers will enjoy more seating, free high-speed Wi-Fi, and better comfort features like winged headrests, reading lights, and power outlets at each seat.
“This is a much better travel experience for Americans,” said Amtrak’s Vice President Laura Mason.
The new trains also include a tilt system, which will make the ride smoother and quieter.
However, even with the upgrade, they’re still not as fast as some trains in Asia and Europe, which go over 200 miles per hour.
Amtrak first launched Acela in 2000, the new version was expected in 2022, but it was delayed due to technical issues.
