Microsoft launches Copilot mode to transform AI assisted browsing
AI is designed to help users perform tasks and research
Microsoft has officially introduced a new feature to its Edge browser called Copilot on July 28, 2025.
Primarily, the new feature aims to help users by predicting their needs, offering tasks, summarizing content and performing tasks on their behalf.
Currently, it is in an experimental phase and is expected to be adopted for Mac and PC users with access to Copilot.
This experimental feature integrates chat, search, and web navigation when a new tab is opened in Edge with Copilot mode on. It helps to understand your intent and get you started faster.
While it supports both texts and voice inputs, it is free for a limited period of time. Users can access and gain full control at any time.
Accelerating everyday tasks with smart browsing
Copilot enables users to open all tabs to better understand the full context when exploring online. This helps with make better decision-making and reduces tab toggling. You can also give voice commands to Copilot to browse information. This helps you work efficiently.
In addition, in the future, Copilot will allow you to give permission to access the traditional browser context when required, such as making reservations, checking the weather, and even suggesting tutorial videos to help you prepare beforehand.
Commitment to privacy and security
The commitment to privacy is of utmost priority to individuals. Microsoft improves user experience and gives access to personalized settings.
With Copilot mode in Edge, data is protected under specific privacy standards to keep your information safe and secure. The browser will be protected under Microsoft’s rules when Copilot is working.
Nevertheless, the new feature will be your research partner and can streamline online tasks. It is the beginning of a new journey in introducing AI innovation into daily browsing. This new mode is in an experimental phase and is still evolving. We will have to explore what’s coming next that will shape the entire user experience.
