Meghan Markle’s team seems to be doing a bit of damage control as Prince Harry settles his affairs with the royal family, especially his cancer-stricken father King Charles.
As peace talks continue between Montecito and Buckingham Palace, the Duchess of Sussex is taking charge of financial security, adopting a new strategy to recover from the most recent setback in her business.
The As Ever founder had been quite active on social media ever since she returned to Instagram earlier this year. She has not only been using her platform to provide updates on her newest ventures, but has also sent out a pointed message or two towards the royals.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s mum had also shared glimpses of the Sussex children, but since the past month, there has been radio silence. A PR expert revealed that this is the smartest move that Meghan has made in the current situation.
“Her new social media strategy is clearly PR-led, and while it’s not exciting, it’s probably the only smart thing they can do right now,” Renae Smith told the Express UK.
“Going quiet slows the noise and stops her from making more mistakes or what I call a ‘panic pivot,’ which makes a brand look desperate. I’d guess they’re letting the dust settle before rolling out something new.”
The remarks also come amid news that Meghan’s Netflix deal is under negotiations after it was called “dead” by sources close to the situation. Her show, With Love, Meghan, did not perform well on the steamer and did not manage to get into the top 300 most-watched shows globally.
The expert suggested that Meghan’s lifestyle brand is no longer grabbing the kind of attention it did in the beginning. She noted that the PR team would have to do everything in their power to bring it back.
