The late Princess Diana's younger brother took to social media to share share a sweet photo of the newest family member.

Alongside the image, he kept the caption simple and direct: 'New pup.'

The puppy looked full of energy, with its tongue hanging out playfully and floppy ear perked up, clearly ready for some fun. While the name and gender of the pup remain a mystery, the post was warmly received by followers.

Earl Charles' post follows a growing trend among royal fans and their relatives showcasing their beloved pets online.

Recently, Queen Camilla melted hearts after sharing a photo of herself cuddling her newest rescue dog, a Jack Russel Terrier named Moley, following a visit to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Soon after, Meghan Markle shared a cosy photo through her As Ever lifestyle brand, showing her sipping herbal tea alongside her rescue beagle, Mia. 

Animal-loving James Middleton, brother of Princess Kate, also got in on the pet love sharing a snap of himself with his Cocker Spaniel, Nala affectionately resting on his shoulder.

Even the Prince and Princess of Wales joined in, revealing that their family dog Orla had welcomed a litter of puppies, shared as part of a birthday tribute to Prince William.
