Kate Middleton makes rare gesture to honour King Charles at State banquet

Kate Middleton paid respect to her father-in-law, King Charles, with a rare gesture at the State Banquet hosted for French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron.

On July 8, the Princess turned heads in a stunning red gown as she returned to the significant royal gathering after she missed two similar events due to her cancer treatment.

The future Queen flaunted a beautiful tiara, which was earlier worn by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

But, a special detail which grabbed the attention of royal fans was Princess Kate's badge, the Royal Family Order of King Charles III.

The mother-of-three debuted the badge featuring a miniature portrait of her father-in-law, above the late Queen Elizabeth's Royal Family Order.

It is important to note that Queen Camilla was the first female of the royal family to pin the badge of the King's Royal Family Order during the state visit in June 2024.

Queen Camilla previously wore the King's Royal Family Order at the Japan state visit in June 2024, making her the first person to wear it. She wore the piece again at the French state banquet.

People reported that Buckingham Palace said at the time, "The tradition of commissioning a Family Order, a badge worn by female members of the royal family personally bestowed by the sovereign, was established by King George IV over 200 years ago."

"Family Orders have since been instituted by Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II."
