Inside King Charles, Queen Camilla's extravaganza Australian tour
The Royal family's trip from April 2024 to March 2025 cost a whooping £2,743,846
The Royal Household's Sovereign Grant Report has disclosed the staggering cost of King Charles and Queen Camilla's trip to Australia and Samoa last year.
The 11-day tour, which took place from October 17-27, cost a whopping £400,535, making it the most expensive engagement of the previous year.
The report, which covers expenditure from April 2024 to March 2025, reveals that the royal family's trips cost a total of £2,743,846.
King Charles's antipodean tour was the most costly by a significant margin, followed by his trip to Belfast with Queen Camilla, which cost £80,139.
Prince William's visit to British military personnel in Estonia also racked up £55,846 in expenses.
The royal family members undertook over 1,900 public appearances domestically and internationally during the period covered by the report. These included Second World War anniversary commemorations across Britain and Europe, as well as major State Visits from Japan and Qatar.
The Official Royal Palaces welcomed over 93,000 guests across 828 events.
James Chalmers, Keeper of the Privy Purse, commented on the expenditure on tours and receptions, saying: "Soft power is hard to measure but its value is, I believe, now firmly understood at home and abroad, as the core themes of the new reign have come into even sharper focus."
The Royal Household's Sovereign Grant Report also revealed that funding for the monarchy remained broadly at £86.3 million for the fourth consecutive year.
The total comprises £51.8 million for core operations and £34.5 million allocated to the Buckingham Palace Reservicing Programme.
