King Charles delights Prince William, Kate with good news after key test
Prince William, Kate Middleton issue statement after receiving major update on new honour
Prince William and Kate Middleton received some exciting news weeks after King Charles had taken a shocking decision about the pair.
Initially, the Prince and Princess of Wales were set to receive centuries-old honour in an unprecedented step by the monarch. However, the authority to grant royal warrants was delayed just days after the announcement, sparking rumours of friction between the royals.
However, a spokesperson for the King announced the decision to have William and Kate join the King and Queen as grantors on Tuesday.
In response to the news, Prince William’s private secretary Ian Patrick said, “Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to be able to recognise and celebrate British industry, creativity and skills through the granting of Warrants.”
Royal Warrants officially are granted to those companies who receive a seal of approval from the royal family and it endorses those who supply them with goods or services. Previously, the honour was reserved for the monarchs only, but now the Prince and Princess of Wales also hold the special status.
The new update proves that the postponement had merely been a test for William and Kate as the firm worked around some important challenges.
Royal author, Robert Jobson had revealed that there has been a delay in the honours because of management issues.
He explained that since the transition in the Crown is still ongoing, the firm has to deal with the royal grants of the King and Queen first.
“That’s taken some time because they have to go through all sorts of stringent tests,” he had said. “It’s just that we're going through the King and Queen first, and you don't just get awarded a royal warrant, it's a lot involved.”
