Meghan Markle seems to have found herself in a new trouble as her lifestyle brand is set to make a big release.
The Duchess of Sussex, who will be launching her Napa Valley rosé wine on July 1 – the same day as what would have been Diana’s 64th birthday – was faced with fresh criticism after her major claim was discovered to be a deception.
The former Suits star previously claimed that the items in her brand, As Ever, are made from homegrown ingredients and inspired by her own recipes.
However, fans were left fuming when they discovered that Meghan’s raspberry jam – marketed as being “inspired by the recipe Meghan Markle crafted in her home kitchen” – is actually manufactured in an Illinois factory operated by The Republic of Tea company, via The Mail.
According to the report, many of As Ever products are available for three times less than price at a factory 2,000 miles away in Nashville, Illinois. The fact was discovered as Meghan’s team did not change the metadata on product pages.
When Meghan’s team was approached for a comment, the metadata was changed to say ‘As Ever store’. It initially read ‘Brand: republic-of-tea’. The outlet dubbed it as a “grade-school error by leaving tell-tale metadata on product pages”.
The revelation could prove to be damaging to the Meghan’s brand which she has claimed to be “authentic”.
