Prince William and Kate Middleton will one day claim the throne and the couple has already been making efforts to settle in their destined roles when the time comes.
However, the Prince of Wales is setting a crucial boundary for himself and his wife in bid to keep the memory of his late mother, Princess Diana, alive.
Kate still wears Diana’s iconic Sapphire and diamond engagement ring that William proposed to her with. Meanwhile, the future Queen has often used her sartorial choices to honour her mother-in-law.
Even though William appreciates the efforts done to honour Diana, he is not keen on Kate “stepping into Princess Diana’s shoes”.
After the ascension of King Charles, William had inherited a number of titles and privileges from his father, one of those included Highgrove House. However, William has set a boundary on what he wants to keep for himself or preserve for what it is, according to the monarch’s former gardener, Jack Stooks.
He suggested that the Prince and Princess of Wales are unlikely to move into the Highgrove House as it was “very much his mom and dad’s home”.
“Highgrove was [where they] were brought up, so it's like a family home that mom and dad lived in,” he told OK! Magazine.
The former gardener also believes that the move is motivated by William’s wishes to not pressurise Kate to be compared to his mother.
He noted that if they were to live in Diana’s former home, that would force Kate to “step into Diana's shoes”.
Kate is “so often compared to Diana in the press, which I think is unfair because…they’re very separate people.”
