Kate Middleton joins King Charles, William to champion crucial mission

Kate Middleton may have been scaling back on her public appearances, but she is determined to make a difference with meaningful work to support an important mission.

The Princess of Wales, who missed out on the annual Royal Ascot as the royals reunited, recently brought attention to the power of nature as a “sanctuary” to her during her health battle.

King Charles has been a long advocate of protecting the natural environment and Prince William has followed in his father’s footsteps by creating the Earthshot Prize – a prize dedicated to finding practical solutions to alleviate the world’s environmental issues.

Now, Kate is also joining the cause which is an important contribution to the campaign especially concerning as new generations, according to environmentalist and former adviser to King Charles, Tony Juniper.

Tony was speaking about how the future generations would not know a world with the wildlife that he had grown to see due to a shifting baseline syndrome (relates to the change in what generations accept as normal ecological conditions).

“One very important voice on all of this, in terms of the nature side of it, and the extent to which nature nurtures the human spirit and promotes well-being and health, is the Princess of Wales,” he said, via Hello! magazine.

“Following her illness, [she] has been very much talking about the power of nature for healing,” he continued. “And I think this is another way into this, which is not about facts and figures and how many birds have disappeared or how many fewer bees there are, but trying to make this a human thing, which is about how we feel and about our well-being, because everybody cares about that, even if you don't know the difference between a mistle thrush and a song thrush.”

He noted that Kate has that “power to influence as do other members of the family”.
