To note, in April 2006, Harry was officially commissioned as an Army Officer
Prince Philip's rare 'emotional side was revealed as Prince Harry shared the candid parting words his grandfather gave him before his deployment to Afghanistan.
The Duke of Sussex recalled how the late Duke of Edinburgh, known for his straightforward nature, offered simple but heartfelt advice, urging Harry to 'make sure you come back alive.'
To note, in April 2006, King Charles son was officially commissioned as an Army Officer, not long after joining the Blues and Royals regiment.
In a documentary released in 2021, following Prince Philip's death, Harry reflected on the wisdom his grandfather had offered before he left for duty.
Harry said: 'Going off to Afghanistan, he was very matter of fact and just said: 'Make sure you come back alive'.
When Harry returned from the war, he found that Prince Philip gave him the freedom to open up about his experiences without pressure.
Harry added: 'Then when I came back, there was not a deep level of discussion, more case of: 'Well you made it. How was it?' That's how he was. He was very much a listener, he sort of set the scene for you to be able to share as much as you wanted to share but he would never probe.'
For those unfamiliar, Prince Philip served in the Royal Navy during the Second World war.
