Meghan Markle reflects on 'sad' Suits exit before Prince Harry wedding
The Duchess of Sussex sends a message to her former 'Suits' crew eight years after her departure
Meghan Markle still looks back fondly on her time as Rachel Zane on Suits.
Speaking on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast released June 17, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about what it was like to walk away from acting after seven seasons on the hit legal drama right before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
“Sometimes. Sometimes,” Meghan, 43, admitted when asked if she ever longed to return to her old life as an actress, despite previously declaring otherwise.
“Being back on set with Love Meghan was great because I realised how much I had missed my crew. I love being around a crew,” the mom-of-two explained, referencing her new Netflix show, With Love, Megahan.
Grede sympathised, saying, “It must be hard to let that go,” to which Meghan replied, “Yeah, that was different.”
She went on to call her final stretch on Suits “unique,” revealing she couldn’t openly say goodbye at the time given the circumstances of her upcoming royal wedding.
“We couldn’t say I was leaving necessarily. It was speculated,” she explained. “So, after seven years on the series, we couldn’t have a going away party. I couldn’t say my goodbyes.”
Meghan called the situation “so sad,” and sent a heartfelt shoutout to the team: “You work with people for seven years… That’s a really strong connection.”
