King Charles gives up on Royal Lodge row as he takes decision for Andrew

King Charles is finally throwing in the towel amid his ongoing rift with his wayward brother Prince Andrew and efforts to evict the disgraced royal from the 30-room mansion, Royal Lodge.

Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were evicted from their Frogmore Cottage in 2023, there has been conversation that the Andrew was supposed to move in there to cut down on the expenses of maintaining the massive property on Windsor grounds.

However, Andrew had stayed determined to stay in his royal home asserting that he had a 75-year lease on the property. According to DailyMail’s columnist Ephraim Hardcastle, the King is no longer pursuing the fight, at least for a few years.

“The King may have suspended his bid to remove brother Andrew from Royal Lodge but the Crown Estate, which owns the property, is losing patience with the disgraced prince,” he wrote in the paper.

“It appears that Andrew, who paid upwards of £7.5million on renovations when given a 75-year lease in 2003, has maintained the interior but there is a rumbling dispute about who is responsible for extensive external repairs to the 30-room mansion,” he continued.

“Andrew should be safe until 2028,” Hardcastle revealed. “He is entitled to a partial rebate on his outgoings if given the order of the boot at the end of his first 25 years of his lease.”

The update also comes after it was revealed that King Charles had signed a secret deal with his brother, despite the slew of scandals connected to him.

According to an insider cited by Express.co.uk, the monarch and his heir, Prince William are keen to limit Andrew’s public appearances. However, Andrew’s “inclusion in the private aspects is seen as a compromise by both sides.”

Andrew did not attend the Trooping the Colour on Saturday and neither did he appear for the Garter Day service on Monday. However, he was included for the investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle following the service.
