Princess of Wales and Duchess of Edinburgh poised for historic procession
Princess Kate and the Duchess of Edinburgh made a stylish entrance at Windsor Castle this afternoon as they attended a major royal event steeped in tradition and ceremony.
The Princess of Wales turned heads in an elegant white dress, perfectly complemented by a dramatic Sean Barrett hat.
She finished the look with a striking faux pearl necklace by Susan Caplan a £275 piece that sparked a shopping frenzy after she first wore it earlier this year, leading to it selling out.
The pomp and tradition of the Order of the Garter service unfolded at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle today, as the Life Guards of the Household Cavalry marched ahead in a striking display of pageantry.
Recognised as Britain’s oldest and most prestigious Order of Chivalry, the Order of the Garter dates back nearly 700 years to the reign of King Edward III.
Among its esteemed members are Prince William, who was appointed to the Order in 2008, and his uncle, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, who received the honour in 2006.
On hand to support their husbands, the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh made their entrance together, sharing a car to the historic service.
