The Princess of Wales paid a 'beautiful tribute' to Macmillan Cancer Support at Trooping the Colour
Kate Middleton made a powerful statement through fashion as she made a grand comeback to Trooping the Colour.
On Saturday, June 14, the Princess Kate stepped out in a striking turquoise Catherine Walker coat dress, joined by Prince William and their three kids, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
Speaking to the Daily Express, fashion expert Rebecca Bowyer believes the striking colour choice was a quiet but deliberate tribute to Macmillan Cancer Support, of which the Prince and Princess of Wales are joint patrons.
Bowyer praised Kate’s look as polished and symbolic. “Green is undeniably the colour of Macmillan,” she said, calling it “a beautiful tribute” that shows “unity, loyalty and respect.”
But it wasn’t just Kate making a statement. Her daughter Princess Charlotte and the Duchess of Edinburgh also wore shades of green, which Bowyer described as a “deliberate… united front of support.”
The subtle nod comes after what Prince William has previously described as a “brutal” year for the royal family, with both Princess Catherine and King Charles battling cancer.
Kate revealed her diagnosis in March 2024. After months away from royal duties and undergoing preventative chemotherapy, the 43-year-old announced in January that she was in remission.
After being unable to do so last in last year’s Trooping the Colour, Princess Kate took her position at the dais alongside the King and Queen on Saturday — a move that former BBC royal correspondent described as “highly significant.”
