The royal family had a busy work week as King Charles and other senior members wrapped important engagements ahead of a key event this month.
Buckingham Palace on Wednesday released a statement as the monarch welcomed a key figure in UK as talks to maintain peace continue.
“This afternoon at Buckingham Palace, The King received Oleksandra Matviichuk, Head of the Center for Civil Liberties,” the statement read.
“The Center for Civil Liberties is a Ukrainian human rights organisation that works to protect human rights, promote democracy, and support civil society in Ukraine,” it continued. “The organisation was founded in 2007 and gained international recognition when it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.”
The update comes as the King has been playing in active role in maintaining the peace in the commonwealth – especially the European and American region – through soft diplomacy.
In an expression of support and solidarity, King Charles met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after he had requested an audience. The meeting took place just days after Zelenskyy’s meeting with US President Donald Trump went awry as the discussion got heated.
As the King makes big strides to maintain calm in international territory, the cancer-stricken father of Prince Harry is struggling with keeping peace in his family.
The monarch is estranged from his younger son as the royal rift between them continues to widen. While the chances of a reconciliation appear slim, the Duke of Sussex announced the official dates of his UK return for Invictus Games in Birmingham in 2027.
The big news seems to have sparked new hope among fans that a meeting may occur during that time. It remains to be seen how the events unfold in the future.
