King Charles' goddaughter erases evidence of Meghan Markle comments
India Hicks deletes her viral podcast episode where Brooke Shields talks about the Duchess of Sussex
India Hicks, the goddaughter of King Charles III, has deleted her viral podcast episode where her guest Brooke Shields told a less-than-pleasant story about Meghan Markle.
The link to the An Unexpected Journey podcast episode released last week now leads to a “page not found” message on the host’s substack site.
The episode went viral in early June for the A-List actress’ swipe at the Duchess of Sussex, in reference to an International Women’s Day SXSW event they both attended as panel members in March 2024. Led by Katie Couric, the discussion was called “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen.”
But when Meghan, 43, began to tell a story about how a sexist dishwashing ad inspired her to write a strongly worded letter at age 11, Shields cut her off and said, “When I was 11, I was playing a prostitute,” referring to her role in 1978’s Pretty Baby.
On the now-deleted podcast, Shields, 60, explained that she felt the Suits alum was ruining the otherwise light-hearted mood.
“It was just too precious,” she told host Hicks, 57.
The Blue Lagoon star further recalled, “And I was like, ‘They’re not going to want to sit here for 45 minutes and listen to anybody be precious or serious. I go, ‘Excuse me, I’m so sorry, I’ve got to interrupt you there for one minute.’ I was trying not to be rude, but I wanted to be funny because it was so serious.’”
