King Charles breaks cover after Prince Harry’s ‘hurtful’ move to end ties
King Charles puts on a smile just hours after Prince Harry’s insulting decision was unveiled
King Charles stepped out, sans his wife Queen Camilla, at Sandringham after estranged son, Prince Harry’s latest stunt hurled insult at the royal family.
The monarch was seen heading to St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham for a service on Sunday as he smiled and waved at the crowds from his car. However, the appearance seemed a bit melancholic.
Royal fans noted that it was also a little off that Camilla, who is a constant presence with Charles during Sandringham visits, was absent.
The King’s visit came just a day after a shocking report emerged that Prince Harry was willing to drop his last name ‘Mountbatten-Windsor’ and take his mother’s family name ‘Spencer’.
In a report by DailyMail’s Richard Eden, a friend of the Duke of Sussex revealed that Harry had consulted with his uncle, Earl Charles Spencer, about the prospect and he had advised against it.
According to royal commentator, Anne Diamond, there wasn’t a more hurtful insult that Harry could have delivered to his cancer-stricken father.
Meanwhile, Richard Fitzwilliams noted that the move indicated the “toxicity” the royal rift, especially after Harry’s explosive BBC interview.
“The problem with the Sussexes is, clearly very little has been thought out. They are supposed to have advisers,” he lamented.
The latest blow from Harry is also particularly devastating to King Charles, who reportedly still holds a soft corner for his younger son, is that fact that he is proud of his last name like late father, Prince Philip.
