Meghan Markle struggles to connect with Montecito community
The Duchess of Sussex moved to California after stepping back from royal duties in 2020
Meghan Markle is reportedly finding it difficult to integrate into the local community in Montecito, according to a veteran journalist.
The Duchess of Sussex moved to California with her husband, Prince Harry, after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
The couple settled into a lavish £23.3 million mansion in the celebrity-filled town of Montecito, Santa Barbara.
However, local journalist Richard Mineards has claimed that Meghan has 'never tried to fit it' with those around her. He added that she remains practically invisible' to her neighbours and makes only rare public appearances.
'She is there, of course, but she shows herself very little. Her relationship with Montecito is...distant, shall we say,' Mineards told the Daily Mail.
He further explained that Montecito residents appreciate simple people, adding: 'She pays attention to very appearance, every word, every gesture.'
In contrast, Mineards noted that Prince Harry appears to be more open and approachable.
'Harry is always charming, approachable, with that very recognisable Windsor accent. He smiles, shakes hands, willingly exchanges a few words,' he shared.
Though accompanied by his security team, Mineards believes Prince Harry seems ''more at ease here, even with his personal struggles.'
