Buckingham Palace guard taken to hospital after collapse
A Horse Guard from the Coldstream Guards faced a sudden medical emergency during a ceremony on Thursday.
The precision and pride of the Horse Guards were momentarily overshadowed by a dramatic incident as a soldier collapsed during the Brigade Major's Review at the Parade in London on May 29.
The guard fell to the ground whilst on parade in the sweltering conditions. He was rushed to hospital. The incident occurred during the ceremonial parade where more than 1,000 soldiers and almost 200 horses from the Household Division were being inspected by the Brigade Major.
In March, a member of the Irish Guards appeared to almost faint in a social media clip. The soldier, in full ceremonial uniform, can be seen almost losing his balance, swaying backwards and forward before being caught by another guard.
Buckingham Palace guard's collapse due to heat sparked concern, reminding of the physical demands and challenges faced by those in ceremonial roles.
