Which song leads Jamal Roberts to win 'American Idol' 2025?

American Idol crowned the new winner at the conclusion of season 23.

On Sunday, May 18, Jamal Roberts took home the winning title of American Idol 2025, beating out fellow contestants John Foster and Breanna Nix, who secured second and third place, respectively.

Roberts performed Her Heart by Anthony Hamilton, which led to his ultimate win.

The gym teacher at a local elementary school in Mississippi first wowed the judges with a rendition of Mary Jane by Rick James in the auditions.

“Man, you got some stuff in there and by the end, you were letting it come out. Just relax. You got the voice, and you know how to tell a story. Priceless," said Lionel Richie among other judges at that time.

Luke Bryan added, "What I love about it is it was really like southern soulfulness. Was it perfect? Was it flawless? No. But you’re not trying to sing it perfectly and flawless. You’re just singing it from the heart. And that’s what I felt."

Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood agreed with her fellow judges and advised Roberts to "loosen up and let your body match your voice."

After grabbing the attention with his voice, the 27-year-old earned "yes" from all three judges.
