Alicia Silverstone excites fans with an unexpected comeback
'Clueless' star Alicia Silverstone surprises fans in ‘the best way’
Alicia Silverstone is stepping back into her iconic role as Cher Horowitz, the fashion-forward, witty, and big-hearted Beverly Hills high schooler from Clueless, nearly three decades after the romantic film made her a pop culture icon.
Silverstone officially confirmed that she will reprise the beloved character in a new sequel series for Peacock via a cheerful Instagram post on Thursday, April 17.
"Totally buggin'… in the best way [a woman and sparkle emoji] (Swipe to see why [wink emoji])," The Crush star wrote in the caption of a carousel.
The cover photo featured a still from Clueless, followed by a screenshot of Variety’s report on her return and a third slide showcasing a GIF of the Blast from the Past actress from the 1995 film.
Though plot details are being kept under wraps, it has been confirmed that this new project is entirely separate from the 2020 attempt to reboot Clueless, which was also developed for Peacock.
The 48-year-old actress, who was shot to stardom thanks to Clueless, has occasionally revisited her iconic role over the years.
She channelled Cher in Rakuten’s 2023 Super Bowl commercial and donned the signature yellow plaid outfit for Lip Sync Battle in 2018.
Silverstone even recreated a scene from the film with her now-teenage son, Bear, in a hilarious TikTok clip back in 2021.
