Scarlett Johansson addresses picking Jenna Bush Hager’s permanent co-host
Scarlett Johansson reflects on choosing permanent co-host for Today alongside Jenna Bush Hager
Scarlett Johansson gets candid about picking Jenna Bush Hager’s Today permanent co-host.
In a new interview with InStyle magazine, the Black Widow actress noted that NBC Today show “needs someone spicy”.
Scarlett mentioned that Jenna “needs to be with someone funny”.
The Captain Marvel actress, who co-hosted Today with Jenna for one week in January, shared her experiences from the show.
“Cohosting Today really is a fantasy job for me,” said the 40-year-old.
Scarlett reflected, “I like every element of that job because I love talking to people.”
“It’s not dissimilar from hosting Saturday Night Live in some ways. The live element of it is really fun,” explained the Asteroid City actress.
Scarlett added, “Spontaneous and a little dangerous too. I would never want my own TV show.”
Elsewhere on the show, the Fly Me to the Moon actress spilled the tea about her childhood dream of working as a breakfast television host.
Scarlett recalled she would look at herself “in the mirror with a shampoo bottle”.
“I’m like, ‘Good morning, everyone, and I hope you had a wonderful weekend. What’s happening in your neck of the woods?’ All of that stuff,” said the Avengers: Endgame actress.
Meanwhile, Scarlett also shared her thoughts on show’s previous co-host Hoda Kotb, with the outlet reporting that the actress referred to her as “a mentor.”
“I think with Hoda, it was so great because she was, like, you know, a little older, but with kids… She was a little step ahead,” added the Iron Man 2 actress.
For the unversed, Hoda appeared on her final episode of Today show earlier this year.
