Prince Edward jets to Middle East as royal family deals with new setback

Prince Edward departed the Heathrow airport in London on Sunday, December 15th, as he flew off for a two-day visit to Bahrain and Kuwait.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s solo tour comes after the royal family was hit with a new controversy just ahead of their annual Christmas gathering in Sandringham.

While the details of the visit have not been disclosed yet, the Royal Diary reveals that Edward will also be heading to Kuwait on Tuesday, December 17th. However, it is expected that King Charles’ brother will be promoting the charity he is affiliated to.

The royal previously visited the country in September with regards to promote the charity found in his father, Prince Philip’s name, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DofE).

After King Charles ascended to the throne, Edward inherited his father’s title and has continued all the charity work in relation to it. The DofE is a highly acclaimed, non-formal education framework set in more than 120 countries.

During his previous visit, Edward attended the British School of Bahrain (BSB) Campus, in Hamala, to celebrate the positive impact of the Award and congratulated the Gold Awardees at the special event.

Prince Edward’s visit to the Middle East comes just after the Prince Andrew’s fresh scandal about the Chinese spy, who had been one of the disgraced royal’s ‘confidante’ for years.
