Kate Winslet rejects 'brave' label, emphasises humility in challenging Hollywood beauty standards
Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet recently shared her thoughts on body image, self-acceptance, and the notion of being "brave" in Hollywood.
In an interview with Vogue Australia for their October cover story, Winslet emphasised her humility, stating she doesn't consider herself "brave" for defying Hollywood's toxic beauty standards.
"All I've ever done is be a woman with an opinion. Curves? Just call it a normal body that isn't honed and toned within an inch of its life," Winslet said.
Winslet has long advocated for embracing one's natural shape and rejecting unrealistic beauty expectations.
She feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to showcase her "normal body" on screen.
"Not wearing make-up on screen? That's not brave, I'm not in Ukraine, I am an actor. I love my job, I'm bl**dy lucky to do it. I'm not on the frontline," Winslet added.
Instead of labeling her actions as courageous, the actress suggests alternative descriptors.
"But let's come up with some other words like 'relief' at seeing normal women feeling joyful on screen," she noted.
Winslet's remarks underscore her commitment to promoting body positivity and challenging harmful beauty norms.
