Paula Abdul is putting her health first as she makes a difficult decision to cancel her upcoming tour.
The 62-year-old pop icon announced that she’s cancelling her month-long Straight Up! To Canada tour, as well as shows in Alaska and North Dakota, due to injuries that require surgery.
Abdul was scheduled to perform in Alaska and North Dakota before heading to Canada, but she shared that medical consultations have advised against continuing with the shows.
In a long announcement posted to her Instagram on Wednesday, Abdul revealed, “It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that I need to share with you an update regarding some injuries I’ve recently sustained.”
The former American Idol judge explained that while she initially received treatments to alleviate the pain, “the demands of an entire tour is a different story.”
Upon consultation, her doctors recommended a “minor procedure” followed by a 6–8-week recovery period.
The singer and dancer expressed her deep regret for letting down her fans, emphasising, “This truly breaks my heart.”
She promised to come back “stronger and better” once she’s fully healed, ensuring fans that she will be “dancing [her] heart out” and delivering “the show [they] deserve.
She signed off, “with all my love and gratitude.”
