Eminem's daughter 'sobbed' listening to 'Temporary,' 'Somebody Save Me'
Eminem dedicated emotional track ‘Temporary’ from ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ album to Hailie Jade
Eminem’s daughter Hailie Jade Scott can’t bring herself to re-listen to his songs about her — at least not without breaking into tears.
On the most recent episode of her Just a Little Shady podcast, Hailie, 28, opened up about her reaction to two of the most poignant tracks from Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
“I definitely cry every time I hear it at all,” Hailie shared about Somebody Save Me featuring Jelly Roll, where the rappers narrate their past struggles with addiction.
Hailie also reacted to the song Temporary featuring Skylar Grey — a tear-jerking letter that Eminem pens for Hailie to help her cope with his eventual passing.
“Between that and Temporary… I audibly sobbed I think for both songs but especially Temporary,” she admitted.
Throughout his career, the rap god, 51, has dedicated over 20 songs to his daughter, who he shares with ex Kim Scott.
The songs have allowed the Michigan State graduate to appreciate her parents’ efforts to protect her from the darker aspects of her father’s struggles with addiction during her upbringing.
“But, now like, as an adult in hindsight, it’s so scary to think about. And I think that’s why I get emotional so much, like just thinking that could have happened,” she reflected, acknowledging that that was “the point of the song.”
“I can’t even listen to [Mockingbird] anymore without crying,” she further confessed, referring to the 2005 hit.
