Kate Winslet is embracing aging with confidence and pride.
In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar UK, the 48-year-old actress shared an instance from the filming of her upcoming movie, Lee, where she was asked to straighten her posture.
"There's a bit where Lee's sitting on a bench in a bikini," she recalled, referring to her character, Vogue model–turned–war correspondent Elizabeth "Lee" Miller.
"One of the crew came up between takes and said, 'You might want to sit up straighter.' So, you can't see my belly rolls? Not on your life! It was deliberate, you know?" the Titanic star added, emphasizing that she is not ashamed of her body.
When asked if she worries about her looks in any project, Winslet replied with a firm "no."
"The opposite," she said. "I take pride in it because it is my life on my face, and that matters. It wouldn't occur to me to cover that up."
The Oscar winner has been vocal about the body shaming she faced as a young actress, but she’s done with that and won’t tolerate it from anyone, including herself.
"I think people know better than to say, 'You might wanna do something about those wrinkles,'" Winslet stated. "I'm more comfortable in myself as each year passes."
Additionally, Lee is slated to hit the theaters in U.S. on September 27.
