Katy Perry became emotional during American Idol Season 22 finale as her journey as a judge in the singing competition came to an end.
At first the 39-year-old songstress seemed upset, later moved to tears after Abi Carter was crowned as the season winner on Sunday, May 19.
Tears roll down Perry’s cheeks, who joined the singing competition series as a judge in 2018 alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, as she hugged her fellow judges during Carter’s What Was I Made For by Billie Eilish performance.
For the unversed, earlier this year One of the Boys chart topper revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that she will exit American Idol after seven seasons.
At that time, she hinted having some projects up her sleeves including teasing new music, slated to release in 2024.
"I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol," Perry announced, adding, "I mean I love Idol so much."
"It’s connected me with the heart of America, But I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you what I’m saying Jimmy," she said playfully, winking at Jimmy Kimmel.
