Tom Sandoval released a statement to combat backlash he received for ‘ignorant’ remarks about the late George Floyd and convicted murderer O.J. Simpson.
The 40-year-old reality star recently spoke for a The New York Times cover story, where he compared the notoriety of Scandoval to the trial of Simpson for murdering his ex-wife and the incitement of uproar across the globe following the murder of Floyd.
Taking notice of his questionable comparisons, he wrote on his Instagram Story on Tuesday, “My intentions behind the comments I made in New York Times Magazine were to explain the level of national media attention my affair received.”
“The comparison was inappropriate and ignorant. I’m incredible sorry and embarassed,” Sandoval added.
The Vanderpump Rules star made headlines in March last year after his six-month long affair with 29-year-old Rachel ‘Raquel’ Leviss was exposed, while he was already in a nine-year relationship with Ariana Madix.
During the interview, the actor wondered, “I’m not a pop-culture historian really but I witnessed the O.J. Simpson thing and George Floyd and all these big things, which is really weird to compare this to that, I think, but do you think in a weird way it’s a little bit the same?”
