Palace makes secret change in tradition amid King Charles’ cancer diagnosis
The update comes amid reports of Prince William having private meetings with King Charles
The Royal Family seems to be going through many changes and some modernisation ever since King Charles ascended to the thrones in September 2022.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth, and the exit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, many new roles and titles were given to family members to let them know of their duties to the Crown.
Prince William and Kate Middleton were also promoted to Prince and Princess of Wales, while Prince Edward became Duke of Edinburgh.
Moreover, many traditions have also changed with respect to bows and curtsies. With Charles as the monarch and his wife now referred to his Queen Camilla, she is no longer required to carry out the gesture, via The Mirror.
As per old traditions, and per the will of the late Queen, Camilla was supposed to be Queen Consort, however, Charles named her Queen. This means that Prince William, who is the next in line to the throne, will have to bow to Camilla and so would, Kate Middleton, Harry and Meghan.
Furthermore, Camilla is no longer required to curtsy to anyone in the Royal Family - although she may still carry out the gesture when greeting foreign monarchs.
The update comes amid King Charles’ cancer diagnosis which was revealed last month, after he underwent his procedure for an enlarged prostrate.
While the specifics of the King’s health are kept private, royal sources revealed to The Mirror that the monarch and Prince William had a secret meeting to discuss future plans over potential extra duties amid his father’s health concerns.
