Millie Bobby Brown is opening up about why she’s choosing to build her future in Georgia, the place she has called home since her Stranger Things days.

The star, now 21, first settled in the state after landing the role of Eleven at just 10 years old.

Because the hit Netflix series filmed largely around Atlanta, she spent much of her upbringing there.

With the show preparing to end after its fifth and final season later this year, Brown reflected on the deep connection she’s formed with the area in a new British Vogue profile.

“I grew up here, you know? This is the longest place I’ve been consecutively in my life because of Stranger Things. For me, this is my home,” she said, explaining her choice to remain in Georgia with her husband, Jake Bongiovi, whom she married in May 2024.

Her ties to the state go beyond work.

Brown — who was born in Spain, raised in England and later moved to the U.S. — shared that her parents wanted to keep her grounded while she pursued acting.

She recalled that they didn’t want her childhood shaped by Hollywood.

The actress still loves performing, but said she doesn’t want it to “define” her, adding that it’s important to have “a sense of purpose within your own personal life.”

Now, Brown has fully planted roots.

She and Bongiovi live on a farm outside Atlanta, where she has formed a close-knit, low-key group of friends.

Life there has inspired her to explore new passions, including taking online courses at Purdue University to become a veterinary technician, a natural choice for someone who has always loved animals.

Brown and Bongiovi recently welcomed a baby girl through adoption this past August, sharing the news on Instagram.

Even as her breakout series comes to an end, Brown is embracing a grounded life far from the spotlight.

With her husband, their growing family and a farm full of animals, she has built a life that feels authentically hers, and for her, Georgia is exactly where she wants to be.
