‘Staying Alive’ star Finola Hughes makes surprising public appearance

Staying Alive actress, Finola Hughes, stepped out in Los Angeles in a rare outing.

The 66-year-old soap icon was seen in public after 42-years since the drama ended.

She was spotted being bundled up in an olive green pea coat, grey sweater, white ankle boots, a black bag looped across her chest and a tan suede hat.

The British actress famously starred opposite John Travolta in the 1983 film Staying Alive, the sequel to the legendary Saturday Night Fever.

She was the beautiful dancer who captured Travolta's heart, a role she earned early in her acting career.

She ruled the world of soap operas with long-time roles in All My Children and General Hospital.

Past year, Hughes marked 40 years of General Hospital.

In conversation with Soap Opera Digest, she said, "It’s literally crazy. Forty years since you saw the whites of my eyes the very first time?! Wow."

The anniversary also marked four decades living in the United States for Hughes.

“It’s 40 years in America, so that’s part of the celebration. I’ve been back and forth [from the show], but the character has always been a mainstay of mine, and somewhere I’ve always found parts of myself,” she said.

Talking about her career, she told the outlet that while was acting since age 10, she initially gravitated towards dance.

Hughes' dancing skills came in handy when she tried out for the role of Laura in the Sylvester Stallone directed film Staying Alive.

Auditions consisted of her learning the routine before dancing with Travolta himself. She got the part the same day she tried out for the role.

Staying Alive was released on July 15, 1983.
