'The Mandalorian and Grogu' face limits of Force at box office
'The Mandalorian and Grogu' hype is reportedly not similar to 'The Force Awakens'
As The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to hit Memorial weekend, a haul of $91 to $96 million is estimated.
However, a report in Deadline states it is not big enough for the Star Wars franchise.
Despite the film series releasing the first movie in nearly a decade, the hype was not all too loud.
Just the way it was in Star Wars: The Force Awakens or Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Then, there are critics
They are, meanwhile, mostly to some degree unimpressed by the latest Star Wars offering.
Variety's review read, "Jon Favreau directs a big-budget movie with a tidy small-screen consciousness."
"But that might be what "Star Wars" now is," it says.
Slashfilm's review is even more brutal.
"In its desperate attempt to satisfy everyone, "The Mandalorian and Grogu" neglects to tell a meaningful tale worth anyone's time."
"Star Wars" has never felt duller or more mundane. This isn't the way, folks," the review read.
Den of Geek's review echoes the previous reviews' criticism.
"Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu might be the first summer tentpole blockbuster that feels like a small-screen rerun."
The Mandalorian and Grogu is in theaters.
