Olivia Munn reveals the style shift that helped her feel like herself again
Olivia Munn opens up about finding her style again after ‘back-to-back battles’
Olivia Munn is opening up about how her personal style became part of her journey toward feeling like herself again after motherhood, postpartum anxiety, and her breast cancer diagnosis.
In a recent interview, the actress, 46, shared that she initially struggled with her changing body after welcoming her son Malcolm in 2021 with husband John Mulaney, with whom she also later welcomed their daughter Méi via gestational surrogate in 2024.
“I was hoping and expecting to bounce back to what I looked like nine months before, and that didn’t happen,” Munn told USA Today on August 27.
She explained that breastfeeding, weight changes, and having larger breasts meant many of her clothes no longer fit, leaving her feeling isolated while dealing with postpartum anxiety.
Rather than completely replacing her wardrobe, she began making more intentional choices and prioritising comfort.
But after eventually emerging from what she described as a year-long period of anxiety, Munn faced another major challenge when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023. Her treatment included four surgeries, including a double mastectomy and later reconstruction.
After years of feeling disconnected from her appearance, Munn said she eventually reached a point where she decided she wanted to reclaim her style.
“I just had this moment where I told myself, ‘I am tired of not dressing the way that I want to dress. I don’t know how I’m gonna do it, but I’m tired of not of not feeling like myself every day,’” she said.
Munn said she ultimately decided she would no longer spend her life worrying about whether she had the right outfit or feeling unlike herself.
Munn continued, “I just made the decision after going through years of back-to-back battles that I’m just not going to spend the rest of my life feeling like I don’t have the outfit to wear. And that was a big motivator for me to be like, ‘I’m going to figure this out. I’m going to be happy.”
