Justine Lupe reflects on Morgan’s whirlwind romance in Netflix’s 'Nobody Wants This'

Justine Lupe returns in season two of Netflix’s hit rom-com Nobody Wants This with her character Morgan diving headfirst into a whirlwind romance — one that quickly unravels.

This time, Morgan finds herself dating her therapist, Dr Andy (Arian Moayed), in a storyline that brings both humour and heartbreak. What begins as a seemingly perfect relationship ends abruptly when Morgan realises she’s been chasing an illusion.

“That’s an intense thing to feel, that the person you love and align with is not in their authentic self,” Lupe told The Hollywood Reporter, reflecting on Morgan’s impulsive choices.

By the finale, Morgan ends her engagement at her own party — a decision that captures her signature chaos and courage.

“Doing it at a party is no bueno,” Lupe said, laughing. “She just wants to grab her confidence by the horn and take care of business by breaking up with him.”

At the core of Morgan’s actions is her struggle to process her sister Joanne’s (Kristen Bell) blossoming relationship with Noah (Adam Brody). Feeling left behind, Morgan spirals into a love story that mirrors her insecurities.

“This whole season for Morgan is a reaction to her sister finding love and her feeling left behind,” Lupe explained. “She rushes into something that’s not real, not authentic — and Joanne can feel that.”

Despite the emotional chaos, Lupe teased a deepening friendship between Morgan and Sasha (Timothy Simons), though she believes romance isn’t on the immediate horizon. “Right now, they’re just being really good friends to each other,” she said.

With guest star Leighton Meester bringing fresh energy and Joanne and Noah’s love story rekindling by the finale, Nobody Wants This season two delivers both laughter and growth — with Morgan finally beginning to find herself.

Nobody Wants This season two is now streaming on Netflix.
