Forex reserves jump to $ 15,542bn

KARACHI: Country's foreign exchange reserves have surged by $ 967 million to more than $ 15,542 billion as on August 3, 2012 on receipt of $ 1.18 billion under Coalition Support Fund (CSF).

 

According to State Bank of Pakistan here on Thursday, the foreign exchange reserves held by the Central Bank climbed to $ 11.089 billion while reserves held by banks improved to about $ 4.453 billion during the week.

THE AMOUNT IN FIGURE CANNOT BE RIGHT. IF THIS FUGURE IS RIGHT THEN PAKISTAN IS THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. INSTEAD OF GETTING AIDS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES WOULD BE GIVING AIDS TO OTHER COUNTHRIES. RIGHT FIGURE SHOULD BE $15,542 MILION AND NOT BILLION. MOST OF THE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT BILLION IS. THEY TAKE 100 MILLION AS BILLION IN FACT IT IS 1000 MILLION TO 1 BILLION.
