Dejected Pakistan cricket chief returning home from India

NEW DELHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan Tuesday evening said he was disappointed with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for failing to decide on the resumption of Indo-Pak bilateral series, reported Indian media.

Talking to newsmen in Delhi, Khan said that after repeated efforts to hold talks with BCCI officials it was unfair to keep him waiting and that he would seek no further meetings.

"I am going home, no more meetings. It has been 48 hours, but have not got a response."

The PCB chief added he had lost hope and was not optimistic about the resumption.

"Taali do haath se bajti hai (It takes two hands to clap)," he said, adding that if cricketing ties are to be resumed then efforts will have to be made by India as well.

However, Khan said Pakistan would play the World T20 Cup and there is no chance of boycotting the event.

“Our stance has always been that cricket and politics should be kept separate and we maintain that stance.”

Earlier today, the PCB chairman met with BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla under high-security in Delhi.

Speaking to the media, Shukla said this was an informal meeting and not official talks between PCB and BCCI.

The meeting between Khan and Shukla came after activists of hardline Hindu nationalist party Shiv Sena stormed the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Monday. Shiv Sena stormed the BCCI headquarters just prior to a meeting between Indian cricket officials and their Pakistani counterparts to discuss reviving cricket ties between the two nations.



Between 40 and 50 Shiv Sena activists barged into the BCCI head-office at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, shouting slogans against Pakistan and carrying placards saying "Shahryar Khan waapis jao (Shahryar Khan, Go Back)".
