Rawalpindi: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) in collaboration with Oxford University Press (OUP), Pakistan, organised a seminar on ‘Economics, Dynamics and Bollywood’ here on Friday.
Guest speakers of the seminar were Lord Meghnad Jagdishchandra Desai, Baron Desai, who is an Indian-born naturalised British economist and Labor politician, and Kishwar Desai, who is an Indian author and columnist. Among other guests, Fayyaz Hussain Raja, regional sales director of the Oxford University Press, Pakistan, and Professor Samina Bukhari, registrar of the Fatima Jinnah Women University, also graced the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Lord Meghnad Desai discussed about his book ‘Hubris: Why Economists Failed to Predict the Crisis and How to Avoid the Next One’. He said that this book is an account of many influential economists and their theories that have helped us understand the financial world. Globalization has made this task of predicting changes much more complex than it was a century ago.
