LAHORE
PUNJAB Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said the people of Pakistan expect good governance and result-oriented service for redressing their problems and good governance is the only solution to all our institutional problems.
According to a handout issued Tuesday, these views were expressed by him while addressing the participants of the country study tour of under-training ASPs 41st specialised training programme at Governor House.
The governor said public service in general and police service in particular was a challenging duty which needed to be performed with passion and commitment. ‘You have chosen this path of your own choice, let me tell you that your profession and career can be immensely satisfactory and spiritually rewarding’ he said.
Pakistan had all the potential to become a prosperous country, he said, adding that being resilient people, we faced tribulations and tragedies and suffered in the process, but always moved ahead. He was confident that we would remain strong, spirited, and steadfast as ever. He said young officers would be the backbone of law enforcement and they should strive to learn and understand the dynamics of variant issues and have an incisive grip on the issues at hand.
The governor advised the officers, ‘when you take charge of your future assignments, apply method of critical appraisal, alternative strategies and pragmatic solutions. Work with compassion, commitment and empathy whether you are preserving public peace, detecting and preventing crimes and offences and maintaining law and order.’ He said ‘to take this country forward, we need men and women with clarity of objectives, professional competence and commitment’. Quoting Quaid-e-Azam, he said ‘maintain the highest standard of honour, integrity, justice, and fair play.’
