Dacoits strangulated a rickshaw driver to snatch his rickshaw on Wednesday.
Rickshaw driver Nadeem Ahmad, of Bilal Cowk, Samanabad, was intercepted by some dacoits and the dacoits strangulated him when he put up resistance. They threw the dead body in fields of Ayub Research Institute on Jhang Road.
GAS THEFT: The SNGPL Task Force Wednesday unearthed 89 gas pilfering cases and removed their compressors and gas meters. According to SNGPL General Manager Amjad Mumtaz, applications for registration of cases against the pilferers have been forwarded to the relevant police stations.
shutdown: Traders observed a complete shutdown against the looting of four shops in Chak Jhumra’s Anarkali Bazar on Wednesday.
The protesters said that unidentified people in police uniforms had broken the locks of the shops and decamped with the cash and articles on Tuesday night. They said that robberies had increased manifold in the area due to negligence of the police. They held a protest meeting and raised slogans against the police for not giving proper protection to the business community. They appealed to the RPO and the CPO to intervene and launch an inquiry into the incident. They also demanded that police patrolling should be increased to control anti-social activities.
remanded: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Raja Pervaiz Akhtar on Wednesday remanded seven accused of the Novelty Bridge incident in police custody for three days.
Earlier, the police produced Ilyas Toti, Majid, Afzal, Pervaiz Jatt, Imran and Muhammad Afzal in court. The case is being investigated by a joint police team.

The protesters burnt tyres on the road, suspending traffic for some time. They said that Zakir Hussain was shot dead and his wife was injured by dacoits near 2/1AL village a week ago, but the police had failed to arrest the culprits. They demanded immediate arrest of the dacoits. During a meeting, DPO Faisal Rana told the protesters that the culprits had been arrested by the Kasur police and the district police would bring the culprits here after legal formalities. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.

held: The police claimed to have arrested three illegal Afghans from Chak 351/EB. Dawood Khan, Muhammad Ghani and Gul Muhammad had been living without any documents in the village since long. The police have registered a case against the accused.
