This refers to the news report, ‘Country to pay heavy price if parliamentary resolution violated: Khursheed’ (April 16). One cannot but agree with Khursheed Shah because this is a question of the sovereignty of our parliament.
Secretary of State John Kerry’s telephone call to Nawaz Sharif and the sudden departure of Shahbaz Sharif to Riyadh along with Sartaj Aziz lent credence to the government’s purported U-turn under pressure from the US in disregard to parliament’s vote on Yemen. Nawaz Sharif has a history of buckling under US pressure. He did this during the Kargil crisis in 1999 as well.
