Sugar Factories Control Act 2021 implemented
LAHORE: After the approval by Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, the amended Punjab Sugar Factories Control Act 2021 has been implemented. A new clause regarding payments to farmers has been added to the new act. The sugar mills will be bound to clear their payments to cane farmers through banks. The sugar mills are bound to clear their payments to farmers within 45 days and strict action will be taken by the cane commissioner against those violating this rule. According to details, significant changes have been made for the ease of farmers in the act. In the new act, a new clause has been added regarding payments to farmers. As per the amended act, the sugar mills will be allowed crushing on the dates given by the government. Speaking on the occasion of giving approval to the act, Sarwar said the sugar mills are bound to pay within 45 days and these payments will be made through banks. The cane farmers will not have to face difficulties for their payments. It is a clear policy of the government that no injustice will be tolerated in this regard. He said there is a great contribution of farmers to the economic development of Pakistan.
